International university IUBH to open campus in Commerz Real property in Vienna
Commerz Real has leased approximately 1,100 m2 of the Optimum office building in Vienna to IUBH, the International University of Applied Sciences. This will enable the private institution to establish its first Austrian campus on the corner of Dresdner Strasse / Traisengasse in the Brigittenau district. IUBH currently has fourteen locations in Germany and Ireland, with a total of around 14,000 students. From October 2018, IUBH will offer cooperative-education programmes (combining theoretical coursework with practical experience) for bachelor’s degrees in tourism and marketing management, plus for master’s degrees in human resource management, marketing, sales and project management.
As Jens Böhnlein, Global Head of Office and Industrial, at Commerz Real highlights, “IUBH’s innovative approach to education is new to Austria, and makes it a perfect fit for Optimum.” Since its completion in 2000, the approximately 17,000 m2 office building has been owned by open-ended real estate fund Hausinvest. The property is leased to seven tenants in addition to IUBH, including to the City of Vienna. In 2012, Optimum was awarded BlueCARD sustainability certification for existing real estate by the Austrian Sustainable Building Council (ÖGNI).
