Commerz Real leases out 7,100 square metres of office space in Utrecht

Commerz Real has leased out approx. 7,100 square metres in the office building Europalaan 40 / Endrachtlaan 1 and 3 in Utrecht, the Netherlands, for a period of ten years to ABN AMRO Commercial Banking. ABN AMRO will occupy the entire building part A at the beginning of 2019. Before this Commerz Real will equip the building with new installations and technique and will fully renovate it with a Grade A Energy Label. The ensemble of buildings has a total leasable area of just under 16,500 square metres; the part A has been empty since Rabobank moved out in March 2017. With ABN AMRO the entire property, which has been in the portfolio of the Commerz Real open-ended real estate fund Hausinvest since 1999, is now fully let. A further tenant is the Dutch management consulting firm Berenschot.

“This transaction underlines the significance of the Kanaleneinland district as an attractive office location,” explains Martijn Houwen, Head of Real Estate Markets Benelux at Commerz Real. In his view this significance will increase in the future, among other things due to a number of new buildings and the large-scale development of the Merwedekanaal zone. Moreover, he adds, there are very few large, connected office areas available in Utrecht.
