Commerz Real acquires three onshore wind farms in southern Sweden from Eolus for 82.5 million euros

• 68.4 megawatts installed capacity
• Further diversification of the international asset portfolio

Commerz Real has purchased a portfolio of three onshore wind farms in southern Sweden with a total installed capacity of 68.4 megawatts for approx. 82.5 million euros. The seller is the leading Scandinavian developer of wind power stations, Eolus Vind AB, which has a track record of having constructed more than 650 wind turbines since it was founded in 1990. The total of eleven wind turbines originate from the German-Spanish manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy; grid connection is planned for the autumn of 2023. “With this transaction we are further diversifying our international portfolio,” says a pleased Jan-Peter Müller, the head of Infrastructure Investments at Commerz Real. The asset manager for real asset investments in the Commerzbank Group had only recently acquired a wind farm in Beckum, in the Münsterland region of Germany.

The farms are located in Vaggeryd municipality (about 130 kilometres east of Gothenburg), in Ulricehamn municipality (about 85 kilometres east of Gothenburg) and in Falköping municipality (about 105 kilometres north-east of Gothenburg). In total seven Siemens Gamesa SG 5.8-170 turbines and four Siemens Gamesa SG5.8-155 turbines are being installed. Eolus has also been mandated with the technical maintenance and the on-site management of the farms following completion.

Commerz Real has been investing in infrastructure assets for more than 20 years already, focusing on the three areas Transport & Mobility, On-Grid Infrastructure and Energy Generation. In total Commerz Real has successfully concluded more than 80 transactions across all three areas. With a transaction volume of approx. 7 billion euros it is one of the largest German asset managers in this segment. The main focus of the transactions in recent years has been on the field of renewable energy. Here Commerz Real manages more than 50 solar power stations and – including the latest transactions – fourteen onshore and offshore wind farms. Their total installed capacity is approximately 1 gigawatt. In accordance with the definition of the International Atomic Energy Organisation, IAEO, this corresponds to the average output of an atomic power station.
