Commerz Real – a wholehearted commitment to good corporate citizenship
As an enterprise with international operations and more than 700 employees worldwide we are wholeheartedly committed to good corporate citizenship, and contribute to the community through a variety of projects.
And this mindset begins with our own organisation and people. Because we are convinced that satisfied employees are not just more productive – but also healthier and more motivated. Against this backdrop, we promote a positive work/life balance, equal opportunities, and the personal development of each individual member of staff.
Our client relationships, too, are firmly founded on equitability, dependability and sustainability. Our code of conduct defines best practices for our business and our employees that go far beyond typical market standards. It helps us comply with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements and internal policies – so clients, investors and business partners can always be sure of our fairness and integrity.
We also look beyond the boundaries of our own enterprise, and act responsibly towards the environment and society as a whole. For example, we have been part of the sustainability initiative of the German government since 2015, and an active participant in European Sustainable Development Week since 2017. Our Social Days programme encourages employees at all levels of the organisation to personally contribute to their local community. For example, 420 members of staff joined forces to renovate a secondary school in Wiesbaden, Germany, in 2016.
That is what we mean by a wholehearted commitment to good corporate citizenship.
Commerz Real holds compliance certification
In July 2017, Commerz Real received certification from the Initiative Corporate Governance (ICG) der deutschen Immobilienwirtschaft e.V (an initiative on the part of the German real estate industry). The certificate was awarded to Commerz Real in recognition for a value-based management system in line with ICG’s Articles of Incorporation and the ICG’s Requirements for Compliance Management in the Real Estate Industry.
ICG certification is confirmation that we embrace our responsibilities to society with a compliance culture that puts theory into everyday practice. Our goal is not just to mitigate legal and reputational risks but to respect the trust that our clients and employees place in us.

What does the ICG compliance certificate stand for?
The ICG was founded in autumn 2002 with the aim of improving the competitiveness of the German real estate industry. Specifically, it defined standards for sustainable, value-driven corporate governance. Against this background, the ICG developed a certification system. This documents the implementation of a compliance management system in line with national and international standards.
